Construction site porta potties in Dallas have to meet OSHA's sanitation rule for construction, 29 CFR 1926.51: at least 1 toilet for 20 or fewer workers, then 1 toilet seat and 1 urinal for every 40 workers.
OSHA Minimums
| Workers on site | OSHA minimum |
|---|---|
| 20 or fewer | 1 toilet |
| 20 or more | 1 toilet seat and 1 urinal per 40 workers |
| 200 or more | 1 toilet seat and 1 urinal per 50 workers |
Hand-Washing on the Job Site
OSHA also requires washing facilities near the work for crews applying paint, coatings, herbicides or insecticides, or working with other harmful contaminants, equipped so workers can remove those substances. A hand-wash station next to the units covers most sites.
Service and Placement
- Most job sites rent by the month with weekly service; ask about a second weekly visit in summer.
- Set units on level ground that the service truck can reach.
- Whoever pumps the units must be registered with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality as a sludge transporter.
